Day 01 Cairo to St Catherine
Embark on a historical journey with our Egyptologist guide who will pick you up in the morning for a private tour with Happy Egypt. Departing from Cairo, you'll trace one of the possible routes of the Israelites during the biblical exodus. Travel in modern comfort by car, with a journey of approximately 6 to 7 hours to reach St. Catherine town. Along the way, marvel at the engineering feat of the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel in the Suez Governorate, passing beneath the waters of the Suez Canal.
During the journey, we'll make a stop for a brief break, allowing you to stretch your legs, enjoy a refreshing drink if desired, and rest for a while. Additionally, we'll pause at Moses' wells, where tradition holds that Moses split the rock to create water springs for the Israelites. Here, you'll have the opportunity to discuss with your guide the possible routes taken by the Israelites during the biblical exodus, including the miraculous parting of the sea for Moses and the subsequent demise of Pharaoh (likely Ramses II or Merneptah).

Day 02 Climb Mount Sinai and visit St Catherine Monastery to Cairo
At 1:00 AM, you'll be picked up from the hotel. Tea and coffee will be available in the lobby before you're transferred to the starting point for climbing Mount Sinai with a local Bedouin guide. Embark on this thrilling adventure, following in the footsteps of countless hermits, and marvel at the stunning views along the way. Pause at huts en route to purchase a hot drink or rent a blanket if needed. Witness a spectacular sunrise from the summit, a truly awe-inspiring experience.
After descending from Mount Sinai, you'll return to the hotel for breakfast. Following that, you'll meet your tour guide to explore the historic Saint Catherine Monastery. Your guide will provide detailed insights into the monastery's rich history, including its status as the oldest Christian diocese globally, established in the 6th century. Learn about the lives and roles of the monks residing in South Sinai as you delve into the monastery's fascinating past.
Inside the monastery, you'll encounter the legendary Burning Bush, encircled by a small chapel commissioned by Queen Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. Additionally, you'll marvel at the Church of the Transfiguration, constructed by Emperor Justinian, further adding to the historical and spiritual significance of this sacred site.
Saint Catherine is distinguished as the sole Christian monastery housing the second most significant Christian Library globally, following only the Vatican Library (which remains closed to the public). Additionally, within the monastery, you'll discover a Muslim mosque, although it has never been utilized due to its misalignment with the Qibla direction, pointing towards the holy Kaaba in Mecca. Your expert guide will illuminate the history and significance of this mosque during your visit.
During the journey, a stop will be made to witness the rock believed to be the site where the Israelites erected the golden calf, attempting to mimic divine voices akin to gods.
