The Dendera Temple complex is located about 2.5 kilometres south-east of Dendera, Egypt. It is one of the best-preserved temple complexes of ancient Egypt. The area was used as the sixth nome of Upper Egypt, south of Abydos
Hathor was one of the most important and popular deities in ancient Egypt. She was associated with music, joy, dance and motherhood. She was also known as the Lady of Heaven. Her main center of worship was in Dendera, where today there is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt.

Day 01 Tour to Dendera Temple
Happy Egypt guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel to start your journey to Dendera. Today, you will explore one of the finest and most beautiful temples among the Egyptian temples, the temple of the goddess Hathor at Dendera.
Dendera or Tentyra was the capital of the 16th Nome of Upper Egypt.
The temple is dedicated to the goddess Hathor. Hathor (The Cow) was identified by the Greeks as Hera or Aphrodite. She was the goddess of love, dance, and music. Before you reach the temple, there are two structures in the precinct of the temple, the Mamisi or “the birth house” and the Roman Basilica.
The temple of Hathor was built in the time of the Greeks. It is in very good condition with amazing astronomical scenes on the ceiling. 24 Hathoric columns bear the roof of the 1st hypostyle hall.
Let’s explore this magnificent temple during the Luxor day tour with its very beautiful scenes on its ceiling, such as the representation of the goddess Nut. One of the very well-known things about this temple is the representation of the Egyptian zodiac on the top of the temple.
