Kalabsha was built during the reign of Augustus (30 BC - 14 AD), the first Roman Emperor. Primarily dedicated to the Nubian god Mandulis, the goddess Isis and her husband Osiris were worshiped here as well. The temple is standard in its plan.

Sehel Island located on the Nile, about 3.2 km southwest of Aswan. Sehel was home to a stone quarry for granite used during various Ancient Egyptian periods. These inscriptions were usually left by travellers marking either the start or end of their journey to Nubia. Following our visit to Sehel we will make our way to the western end of the High Dam to take a motorboat ride to New Kalabsha.
New Kalabsha is home to several rescued Lower Nubian monuments, saved and relocated when the Aswan High Dam and Lake Nasser were constructed. Here we will explore the Temple of Kalabsha the largest free-standing temple of Lower Nubia, Ramesses II’s small rock-cut temple of Beit al-Wali, the remaining courtyard and a colossal statue of Ramesses II from the Temple of Gerf Hussein and the decorative Roman Kiosk of Kertassi.
Following the tour you will return via the motorboat back to your vehicle and be returned to your hotel.
