Spending half a day in Cairo may seem like a short time, but it is full of fun activities that will excite you every moment. Your Egypt Day Tours will begin with a visit to the ancient city of Memphis, followed by a tour of the red and curved pyramids of Dahshur. Enjoy a special trip to a felucca on the Nile River. Our special travel offers in Egypt also cover many historical landmarks, and we advise you to try Christmas tours to discover the most prominent landmarks of Cairo.
Happy Egypt Tour guide will meet at the reception of your hotel and start your tour to Dahshour. It is about 40 km south of Cairo on the west bank of the Nile. Dahshour is famous for (by) the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, which were constructed by King Senfru (2613–2589 BC ), the father of Khufu ( Cheops).
There is also a pyramid that was built by Amenmehat II (1929–1895), the 12th dynasty, which is now badly damaged. Several tombs of royal women were built there as well. King Senusert III built two pyramids there. The Black Pyramid was built by King Amenmehat III; it remains the most imposing monument at the site after the two Senfru pyramids. Several other pyramids of the 13th dynasty were built at Dahshour.
Then, you will head to Memphis, the 1st capital of ancient Egypt. The city was founded by King Menes from the 1st dynasty. It occupied a strategic position at the mouth of the Nile Delta. The famous god Ptah was highly worshipped in Memphis. In this half-day in Cairo, you will visit the open-air museum of Memphis, which, amongst other artifacts, exhibits a colossus of Ramses II
From the name of Ptah’s temple there ( hit- ka- Ptah ), the Greek name of Egypt ( Aigyptos ) ( Ai- gy- ptos ) was derived. In Memphis, the first united government of Egypt was established in 2925 BC, under the authority of King Menes, the 1st king of Upper and Lower Egypt. Memphis is the Greek name of the Egyptian name ( min – mfr), today it is called Mit Rahina. Then, end your tour with a felucca ride on the Nile

The Egyptian Museum is famous for a great number of collections from the past, more so the treasures of King Tutankhamun and several other mummies illustrating the ancient Egyptian civilization. The best time to go to Cairo is between October and April, when it is cooler. For an experience out of this world, visit in February or March and enjoy cultural events such as the Cairo International Book Fair or springtime outdoor activities.
Also highly recommended is koshary, a mix of pasta, rice, lentils, and tomato sauce; falafel made from fava beans; and fresh sugarcane juice bought from street vendors. Always go for stalls that have a high turnover so that you get the freshest food; moreover, always carry cash with you because street vendors hardly accept cards.

The Pharaonic Village is one place families can visit to experience life in ancient Egypt in a more hands-on way. The Cairo Opera House sometimes shows child-friendly performances, and the Giza Zoo is also an excellent place to take your kids for exposure to nature.
