Enjoy our half-day tour to Cairo, which includes visits to the Pyramid of Dahshur and the Pyramids of Meidum, with the possibility of organizing half-day trips from Cairo to explore more of the pyramids accompanied by an expert tour guide. The Pyramids of Meidum, sometimes known as the Pyramid of Sneferu, are a relic of ancient Egyptian civilization located in the Fayoum Governorate, 100 kilometers south of Cairo. Through the Egypt Day Tour, you will get many tourist programs that will make you feel fun and excited.
Happy Egypt Tour guide will meet at the reception of your hotel and start your tour to Dahshou. It is about 40 km south of Cairo on the west bank of the Nile. Dahshour is famous for the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, which were constructed by King Senfru (2613–2589 BC), the father of Khufu (Cheops).
There is also a pyramid that was built by Amenmehat II, the 12th dynasty, which is now badly damaged. Several tombs of royal women were built there, and King Senusert III built two pyramids there. The Black Pyramid was built by King Amenmehat III; it remains the most imposing monument at the site after the two Senfru pyramids. Several other pyramids of the 13th dynasty were built at Dahshour.
The Pyramid of Meidum:
Meidum's pyramid is one of a total of 4 pyramids for Snefru, who was the father of King Cheops, the owner of the Great Pyramid at Giza Necropolis. The pyramid is located in the town of Al-Wasta in Beni Suef Governorate, about 90 kilometers southwest of Cairo. During the reign of Pharaoh Huni, it was built in the time of the last ruler of the 3rd Dynasty and was completed by Pharaoh Sneferu, founder of the 4th Dynasty and father of Khufu, who built the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The Meidum Pyramid has a unique design, as it started as a step pyramid but was later modified to give it a smooth outer casing, transforming it into a true pyramid. However, much of the outer casing has collapsed, giving the structure its distinctive appearance today, resembling a tower surrounded by rubble. This pyramid is notable for being one of the earliest attempts to create a smooth-sided pyramid in ancient Egypt.

The best time to go to Cairo is between October and April, when it is cooler. For an experience out of this world, visit in February or March and enjoy cultural events such as the Cairo International Book Fair or springtime outdoor activities.
Also highly recommended is koshary, a mix of pasta, rice, lentils, and tomato sauce; falafel made from fava beans; and fresh sugarcane juice bought from street vendors. Always go for stalls that have a high turnover so that you get the freshest food; moreover, always carry cash with you because street vendors hardly accept cards.
