A tour from Hurghada to Saint Anthony's Monastery
the most popular destination for Egyptians, it offers spiritual retreats for Egyptian Christians in addition to family outings.
A brief overview of Saint Anthony:
Saint Anthony is a Christian saint who was born into a wealthy family in Lower Egypt around 251 AD. His father died when he was eight years old. Most of what is known about him comes from the book "Life of Anthony" by Athanasius the Great. This biography portrays Anthony as a humble and holy man who achieved a profound connection with divine truth through his presence in the primitive scene. The moment Saint Anthony dedicated his life to God and the Church was prompted by words he heard from Mark, who urged him to renounce all his possessions and seek God. At the age of thirty-four, Anthony abandoned all his worldly possessions and ventures into the Eastern Desert in search of a life of humility, solitude, and spiritual contemplation. Saint Anthony took Mark's words literally, which led him to venture into the desert to live a monastic life, dwelling in a small cave as an ascetic. While Saint Anthony was not the first monk, he attracted many followers and disciples, earning him a place as one of the foundational figures in modern Christian monasticism.

The monastery is situated deep in the Red Sea Mountains, approximately 255 km southeast of Cairo, and can be reached from Cairo in just 3 to 4 hours. The monastery is on a side mountain road, about 10 km from the ambush station and the Zafarana dock.
Saint Anthony's Monastery ( Deir Mar Antonios):
Saint Anthony's Monastery is an Orthodox Coptic monastery located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, in the southern part of the Suez Governorate. It was founded by the followers of Saint Anthony the Great, an early Christian monk. The monastery is one of the most prominent in Egypt and has had a strong influence in shaping many Coptic institutions, as well as fostering monasticism in general. Several patriarchs have emerged from the monastery, and it is visited daily by hundreds of pilgrims.
In 2002, the Egyptian government initiated an 8-year project worth $14.5 million to renovate the monastery. The modern monastery is a self-contained village with gardens, a mill, a bakery, and five churches. Today, it has become a popular destination for Egyptians, offering spiritual retreats for Egyptian Christians as well as family outings.
